I used HP Web services for my printer and turned on the network firewall (trying to increase security for printing). However, now I can't access the HP web services, and in HP connected, the printer isn't even detected anymore. How can I disable the firewall (revert the change I made) when I can't even access the HP web services.

Hi @stephenyu,
Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forum for a solution to your firewall inquiry.
I understand that you are using an HP LaserJet Pro M201dw Printer with a Windows 7 PC and you have not been able to access HP Web Services since enabling the firewall through the printer's Embedded Web Server. I would like to help with that.
You can disable the same firewall by going back to the printer's EWS.
Once you have accessed the EWS click the Settings tab at the top. Next click Firewall listed on the left. After clicking Firewall, click Firewall Rules. You should be able to remove the check mark from the 'enable firewall' box and then click Apply. This should disable the firewall and allow you to reconnect with HP Web Services.

Hi @rb011
I've followed your instructions and optained the IP address from Configuration Report. However, it does not allow me to connect to the EWS. The error message I get is: "This webpage is not available. ERR_CONNECTION_RESET"
This is odd, as I had followed these exact instructions to get into the EWS the first time (to disable the firewall). I figured it was my enabling the firewall, that blocked my access through the IP address.
I do not have HP Device Toolbox in my start menu.
Thanks for your help!

Hi @stephenyu,
Thanks for getting back to me with that information.
If you are unable to get to the EWS with the printer's IP, I would reboot th printer and the router and try again.
Here is a support document that may help with connection issues - Printer Not Found During Network Driver Setup (Windows).
Please let me know how it goes.
Thanks

Hi @rb011
I tried everything on the list of options for "Printer not found during Network Driver Setup"
So I tried restarting the printer (unplugged and replugged) and router (unplugged and replugged). I ensured that my printer is manually conntected to the router (via ethernet cable). Again, I don't have any HP Print and Scan software on my computer, however, I didn't require HP software to access the EWS the first time.
Are there any other solutions you can think of to help me?
Thanks again!
