HP8720 All in One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

No error messages.  When printing from a PDF file, the printer chooses randomly any envelope, whether it is return address or mailing address, to cut in half, the city, state and zip code.    Sometimes it is 10 envelopes.  Sometimes it is 40.  Very frustrating.   I contacted support.   They blame the program.  However, it printed on my older HP printer.  I am ready to return this model for a different product.  Maybe Epson will be a better option.  Has anyone had this issue?  Please help if there is a fix, I rather fix it than purchase another printer.

@Mad10

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer and when printing a PDF file, the printer randomly chooses any envelope. Whether it is return address or mailing address, to cut in half, the city, state and zip code. Sometimes it is 10 envelopes or it is 40. No to worry, I'll do my best to help you out.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Which application are you using to print envelopes?
  • Does the print printer other documents fine?
  • Have you tried to print an envelope from Microsoft Word and checked?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • I suggest you to perform the steps as described in detail from this link and check if the envelopes print fine: Printing Envelopes (Windows)
  • Secondly, please uninstall Adobe reader. Then download it and reinstall it back. Make sure that the settings to print envelope are correctly selected like the paper size, etc.

Also refer to this video on printing envelopes from Adobe reader: Printing Envelopes From Home Using Acrobat Reader. NOTE: This is a third party link so please ignore any ads and do not go for paid suggestions.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how it goes. Good luck! 🙂
