Hi FoolishGrey,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I understand when scanning it is like a rainbow of colored lines.

I will be happy to help you.

Try and make a copy to see if you are having the same issue.

I have provided a document for Copies or Scans Have Vertical Bands, Lines, or Black Pages to follow the steps to see if we can resolve this issue.

Hope this resolves your issue.

Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
Have a wonderful day!

I have a similar problem.
My ENVY 121e will print FINE however, when I scan regardless of B&W or Color, I get verital colore lines on the right third of the paper.

I've reset per this site as well as downloaded the HP Print & Scan Doctor.  It said that it resolved a driver issue however, the lines continue to appear.

Yes - the scanning bed and glass top have been cleaned as noted on the HP post so I'm now at a loss as to resolve this major scanning issue.

Any assistance would be appreciated and I'm technical so I don't mind going further indepth to trouble shoot in getting down to the issue.

Thanks in advance!

@Padymcc

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP ENVY 120 printer. I understand that you are getting vertical lines when you scan, and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

  • Clean the automatic document feeder (ADF) rollers.
  • Change the scan settings.
  • Reset the printer.

Click here to refer the document and perform these steps.

If the issue is resolved and you appreciate my help,

Please click the "Accept as Solution" button and the "Thumbs Up".

Let me know how you make out.

Cheers!
