Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

I have an Envy 4500 and it takes several minutes to print one page.  The status bar says it is connected to computer, and the bar is moving as the printing takes place, but it is really slow!  Any suggestions?  I have a Macbook with OS X Yosemite.

Welcome to the HP Community @tsuzannenc,

I read about the concerns you're having with your print outs being slow, when printing from your Mac running 10.10, and I wanted to reach out to try to help! Before you get started, try making a copy or two from the front of your Envy 4500. If the copies are also slow, try a power reset and try making copies again. If the copies work successfully, move on to the below steps.

Power reset:

Turn the printer on.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the unit.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the unit.
If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

Please try these steps in order and try printing again from Text Edit.

  1. Reset the printing system
  2. Repair disk permissions
  3. Restart the Mac
  4. Click here to download and install the Full Driver: HP ENVY 4500 series Full Feature Software and Drivers
  5. In addition, download this driver: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X

Good luck!
