Hi,
I am having problems scanning with my new HP Envy 4500. Basically, I cannot establish a connection to the printer from my Windows10 PC, neither via HP Scan nor via the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
However, printing works perfectly fine. I also cannot start a scan using the scan button on the printer. In addition, the copy function on the printer is not working, so I am assuming a communication and/or hardware issue.
Could anybody provide me with help on this occasion? (I think that I tried all the suggestions posted into this thread)

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-4500-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5304875/mod...
Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.
How to Scan to Computer
1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)
Scan to Computer
If you cnnot even do a copy job from the printer front panel, it may indicate that the printer hardware/scanner is defective. Can you power off the printer, ensure that you are plugged in directly into the wall socket (i.e. don't use extension plugs), turn on the printer again and see if you can copy. if not, the scanner hardware probably is defective.
Hope that helps!
