HP Envy 5530
Microsoft Windows Vista

Printer stopped printing color. Thought it was the cartridge empty. Bought new HP color catidge, installed. Printer does not recognize that there is a cartidge in there. Does not print color. Have cleaned print heads, aligned the cartidge, etc. Still no. Suggestions for fix, please. Or is this a service situation? Or a buy a new printer situation?

Hello, @DanGS – Greetings!

Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

Going through your post, I see that you are facing issues while printing in color using the Envy printer. Appreciate all your efforts. Were you getting any color printouts while cleaning the print head or while aligning the printer?

Also, to further isolate this issue, I need to know whether the printer can make a "Photocopy" or not.

Place a color document face down on the scanner glass and press the color copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.

If the copy also comes out black and white, then please follow the steps listed here: http://hp.care/2r708nu

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

copy - prssed color but got black ink only.

I do not get color when I previously cleaned printheads or aligned.

As for the suggested page - I actually visited that page the other night on my own. Tried single cartridge printing and got a blank page.

So....?

Hello, @DanGS

It looks like a hardware issue with the printer / cartridge. You can try with an alternate color cartridge to see if that works.

If the issue persists, I'd suggest you contact the Hp phone support to get further service options for your printer.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

If you have any troubles, let me know and I will do my best to help!

Cheers 🙂
