Envy 5540 Scan to Email from printer panel not work

I find that none of the "scan to" buttons on the device work. But it scans fine when I invoke the "hp scan" on my Mac. Any ideas? Where would it email the scan to if I haven't set an email address? I know the NSA! Argh!

I understand that you are unable to scan to email using the control panel of your printer.

Don't worry, I will be glad to help. 

Is your printer connected to your router?

Have you enabled web services?

Have you enabled scan to email option from the EWS page of your printer?

Are you able to print and scan fine from your computer?

If the printer is connected to your router through wireless. 

Please print the network configuration page from your printer and capture the IP Address of the printer. 

To print the network configuration page

1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch (Settings).

2. Touch Print Report and then touch Network Configuration Page.

Open any internet browser on your computer. 

Enter the IP Address of the printer on your addressbar for your browser and hit enter. 

This should bring up the EWS page of your printer.

Note: The options on the EWS page may vary based on the models. However, the procedure would be the same. Scan to email is not available on all printers.
