I have had my printer for almost a year. It has worked with my wifi great. I bought a new router and went to change the wifi settings on my printer to match and it gives me a blue screen with B8A72DC0 and says it needs to shut down. I have tried turning off my computer, printer and router for 60 secs, and then turning the router back on, waiting another 60 secs, and then turning on my computer and printer. Still no go. I have tried taking the ink cartridges out, unplugging the printer and replugging it back in after 60secs, putting the ink cartridges back in, and trying to connect and it's a no go. I have tried putting the password in manually and I have also tried pressing the WPS button on my router, and yes you guessed it, it was a no go. It can find my router, but once I put in the password or press the button on my router it starts searching for 10 secs or so, goes to the blue screen and code and then asks to be shut down and restarted. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I read that you have an HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer and after you changed the router, you tried to change the wifi settings on the and printer displays a blue screen with error code B8A72DC0 and says it needs to shut down. I further read that you have turned off the computer, printer, and router and restarted them, have removed and inserted the cartridges back in. have tried to enter the password manually and also tried the WPS way. But the issue still persists. Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- Did any updates happen for the printer like a firmware update?
- Do other devices connect fine to the printer?
Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
Now run the wireless setup wizard as shown below
Perform a network defaults:
- Touch Setup>> Network Setup>> Wireless Settings>> Restore network defaults.
Now please run the wireless setup wizard:
If the issue still persists then let us perform a reset on the printer. I have sent you a private message with the steps to reset the printer.
I hope these steps help. Let me know. Cheers! 🙂

Kazi,
I went through all of your steps and it is still giving me the same error code. There have not been any updates to the printer and there are no devices directly connected to it. I only use it through wifi.
As far as the private message I received from The HP Support Forum Team, I followed your steps as well to do a semi-full reset on the printer and it is still giving me that same error code.
Thanks,
Nikki

You're welcome Nikki and thanks for attempting the suggested steps. I appreciate your efforts.
We can try to reset the printing system in Mac. We can later convert the printer via USB to wireless.
- To reset printing system in Mac, please perform the steps from this link: http://hp.care/2jxPdMX
- Once the printing system is reset in Mac, please download the printer drivers from this link. NOTE: Do not start the installation yet.
- Connect the printer via USB and then run the downloaded file for drivers.
- During the course of the installation, it will give an option to convert the connection from USB to wireless.
I hope this helps. Let me know. Cheers! 🙂

Kazi,
I followed of your instructions and when it got to the part where it converts to wireless it searched and it said it could not finish the process:
My printer is right next to my computer and I have it plugged in via USB. My router is in the same room as my computer and printer. I have tried this 3 or 4 times with the same result.

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that the issue still persists after following the steps provided in the previous interaction.
Let me jump in with a solution for this issue in place of my colleague.
This issue could occur if the USB cable is not disconnected from the printer before setting it on the wireless network.
Hence, you need to disconnect the USB cable and then connect the printer to the network.
Please follow the link: Wireless Printer Setup
If the issue persists, then you need to contact HP phone support for further assistance at the link: www.hp.com/contacthp
You have a good day ahead.
