HP Officejet 4630
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I continually get this error message on the printer--for a while I could clear it by going through the recommended process of removing the cartridges and then unplugging the power cord from both the machine and the wall plug (it is plugged into a wall plug, not a power strip). But now I can't clear the message at all. This machine has been very lightly used but it is out of warranty. Extremely frustrating! This seems to be a very sensitive piece of equipment. It started giving the error message when the power would go out but now it is all the time and the printer is unusable. I bought it to replace another HP Printer that simply refused to communicate with my computer. I will be shopping for something besides an HP printer in the future (and I'm a former HP employee, so doubly disappointing that the machine is such low quality).

Hello, @joanras - Greetings!

Thanks for reaching out! I'd like to help 🙂

Going through your post, I see that you are getting the "0x" error message on your printer. Appreciate all your efforts in trying to fix the issue!

I'd like you to try updating the printer firmware before confirming this as a dead machine. Sometimes, this could help. Go to http://hp.care/2o1fxRC to download and update the printer firmware. Restart the printer once done.

If the issue persists, I'd also recommend a full printer reset as a last ditch effort. I am sending you a private message with the steps. Please check the mailbox icon at the top right corner of your screen to access your inbox.

Let me know if that helps!

Good luck 🙂

I downloaded the driver, but now I am stuck on the message that says "connect the USB cable". I did that, but the printer is still showing the error code, and it doesn't seem to connect with that error code up. I also tried the. I tried the reset procedure too, but with the error code on display, the machine doesn't seem to react to pushing any buttons.  As long as that error message is displaying, the printer is non-reactive to anything. I think that's called "dead"

Hello, @joanras

I am afraid that's all we can at the moment. I'd suggest you contact the HP phone support to get the printer replaced or for a possible upgrade.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

If you have any troubles, let me know and I will do my best to help!

Thank you!
