I have a relatively new CP5525 that has been working fine over the last year. I had  to move it to a new classroom location. After I did that an error message comes up code 49.38.0C. I tried to override using instructions for a similar code but it didn't work. I have rebooted the printer several times with no change. I have reseated the fuser and transfer cartridge to no avail, (I think that's what they are called). I have downloaded the latest firmware but, since the POST doesn't seem to be working, I can't get web jetadmin to discover the printer to update it. What else can I try? Is there some repository that can explain the error code to me? Any help would be great, thanks.

Disconnect the network cable from the printer so the only thing connected is the power cord. Turn on the printer and see if it comes to ready. If it does your issue is a bad print job trying to print each time the printer starts to come to ready and crashes the printer. One thing you can try if many computers are connected is to continuously keep pressing the cancel button as the printer starts to get to ready. Just keep on hitting the cancel button over and over again, hopefully removing the bad job from reaching the prnter.

Hello, if you want to update the firmware, disconnect the printer from the network and connect directly to a laptop off the network. Then, for one, you can test to see if the 49 error comes back, send test prints, and update firmware, this way you can rule out the printer. Only other advice I can give on the 49 error after a firmware upgrade, is if it is still causing the error check the que to see what application is causing the error. I have seen a lot of these errors recently due to people printing from websites, but the way to get rid of the error was just cancel the first job and everything after should print like normal.

Hope this helps.....

A 49.38.0C indicates an internal firmware error has occurred. The root cause of this can vary depending on the version of firmware running on the device. Knowing what version your HP LaserJet CP5525 is running would help us in diagnosing the issue.

If this error occurs again please consider capturing a copy of the associated diagnostic data. To do this, after the 49.38.0C occurs, first reboot the printer. Next, insert a USB stick into the USB receptacle in the printer (by the control panel) then, using the control panel menus, navigate to Administration > Troubleshooting > Retrieve Diagnostic Data. This will save a copy of the diagnostic data to the USB stick. The diagnostic data (a *.jdp file) can be shared with HP for more detailed debugging and triage of the failure.

Finally, please ensure the printer is running current firmware. To find out what version of firmware your HP LaserJet CP5525 is running use the control panel menus and navigate to Administration > Reports > Configuration/Status Pages, select Configuration Page, then press View or Print. The Firmware Revision and Datecode are listed part way down the page on the left-hand side. Current firmware is available here: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/upgradeMigrateDisplay/?sp4ts.oid...
