When trying to print directly from Paperport 12 i get the following message: The default scanner is not attached. Please attach your default scanner or click on the scanner 'select' button to choose another scanner.
I have clicked on the scanner select button and changed the default scanner several times but still get the same error message.
I can't see what to do to 'attach' the default scanner.
This is driving me nuts as it used to work smoothly.
Help!!!

Hi @Techsavvynot1,
Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you are unable to scan using the PaperPort 12 scanning software.
This issue could occur if the firmware is not updated.
Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.
And here's the step by step guide for you in the link to update the firmware: Firmware Update
If the issue still persists, then you may need to contact the PaperPort Support.
You have a good day ahead.

Hi Rainbow23,
Thank you for your message and suggestions, it is very kind of you.
I have updated the firmware and apparantly that is no the problem.
I have gone on to Paperport support and unfortunately they do not appear to have any live support or forum and I could not see any solutions that applied directly to the error message I am getting: which basically is that the default printer is not "attached".
I cannot see how the printer is not 'attached' given that I can see it in the list of printers and that I am able to select it and test it via the wizard function???
Meanwhile the problem remains unresolved.

Hi @Techsavvynot1,
Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that the issue still persists after following the steps provided in the previous interaction.
This could be an issue with the Paperport 12 software.
Hence, I suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the Paperport 12 software.
- Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
- Uninstall all versions of PaperPort and the PaperPort print driver that are listed.
- Restart your computer.
- If you have upgraded from a previous version of PaperPort, install the version of PaperPort that came with your scanner and then reboot your system.
- Install your current version of PaperPort onto your system.
- Check if you are able to scan.
Let me know if this works.
You have a good day ahead.
