To use my HP Laserjet 1010 in Windows 7 I am having to use the driver for HP 3050 PCL5. It keeps my trusty printer going well but I have to switch off and then on again to print more than 10 copies of anything. If I try to print more I get the error message Unsupported Personality: PCL. Is there any way to beat this please?

I am amazed it works with that driver since this printer is hostbased and does not support pcl. That said there is no host based driver for windows 7. You could try the vista 64bit driver which is at the link below and see if it works.

Like @davidzuts, I'm also surprised that you get much printed when the print jobs are generated using a PCL5 driver.
I suspect that the printer, although host-based, does support a limited set of PCL escape sequences (and will hence print some limited simple data), but that this process will fail once its buffer fills.

Gentlemen, many thanks indeed. I suppose it should have dawned that it was a buffering problem but at 84 the old grey cells get a bit clogged. I have just produced 36 booklets using it but it was a pain switching off and on again. I will certainlly give the Vista driver a go. The reason that I keep the laser printer going is that I was given two toner cartridges and it also saves my Epson inkjet that I use for colour work. Once again many thanks.
