I have been attempting to set-up an HP Deskjet F4400 Series printer to my MacBook Pro.  I get all the way through to "ADD" and get the following message:  "An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer"  "Successful-ok-ignored-or-substituted-attributes.

This printer has been successful set-up on my Dell laptop.  The MacBook Pro also has another networked printer set-up.  I would appreciate any help to solve this issue.  Thank you.

Hi Rainbow,

I am running Mac OSX version 10.8.5.

I have followed all the instructions for resetting the printing system and reinstalling (multiple times).  I get all the way through the process, select my printer, and just when it looks like it's going to work, i get the same message again:

Setting up HP Deskjet F4400 Series:

An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer

Successful-ok-ignored-or-substituted-attributes

I am very frustrated.  The printer works well with my Dell PC, but I cannot get it to work with my MacBook Pro.

Please help.

Thanks for the response!

Sorry to hear you haven't any success. Lets try Repair disk permissions and then installing the printer.

Issue is quite odd.

Hello,

I see by your post that you are still unable to add the printer. I can help you with this.

Make sure you reset the printing system first from message 2, to see if this will resolve the issue.

Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system.

The drivers are installed by the Apple Updates for 10.8.

Connect the printer directly to the Mac and run the Apple Updates.

Here is the documentation for the installation.

OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac with Mountain Lion.

If you are still having issues, download and install the HP Printer Drivers v.2.16.1 for OS X.

Let me know how you make out.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.
