The following error message appears: Save Failure error.  Cannot create output file.  Remove any files with conflicting file names.

The above message appears when attempting to scan to a memory device using an HP Officejet Pro 8500a Plus all in one printer.

I have tried

1.turning the printer off.

2. unplugging the printer while printer is on.

3. removing any files from the memory device and the computer that have the same name.

I can scan to the computer successfully, but no matter what name I choose for the file to be scanned to the memory device I receive the same error message.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @DBMN ,

I read about the issues you are having with saving scanned files to your memory device. My own suggestion to you would be to try another memory device. Below is the support memory devices for the Officejet 8500A Plus.

I hope that helps, good luck:)

I have tried using a different storage device.  The first memory stick I used was full. When I removed the first device and inserted the second memory stick and scanned, is when I first got the error message "save failure"..... etc.

What I think is that I need to clear a memory cache from the printer that has file names stored in it. I don't know how to get to a directory in the printet so I can delete files or file names.

Hi there again!:)

Which memory device from the list of supported devices have you tried?

If you are wanting to delete all memory from the printer, I can send you a private message for a reset on how to do that if you want to do that. Please let me know!

I have used a Sony USB memory stick and another one that I cannot find a brand printed on the stick.  The Sony USB was the one that was full.

Yes I believe that I would like to try to clear the file that stores the name of scanned files.

Hey there DBMN,

I didn't notice a Sony memory stick in the list of supported memory sticks, so please know that the error could be coming from the type of memory stick you are using and not necessarily from the printer itself. I will send you the instructions right away if you do choose to go that route!

Have an awesome day:)
