When I try to scan a document to the computer, I get a pop-up with the following message:

"The scanner is currently in use. Please wait until your previous task in complete and then try scanning again"

I did start a scan which aborted before it completed.

However, the printer or scanner is actually not is use now - in fact it even went into sleep mode.

I have powered the printer off and re-started it three times.

I am unable to locate the supposedly on-going scanning job - not even in the windows task manager.

How do I re-set the machine so that it will scan again?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Have you restarted your PC?

If you have restarted your PC and printer and the problem still persist, can you try the Print Scan Doctor?

Please Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR) tool to diagnose and fix your problem

Hope that helps.

I am an HP Employee. Although I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
