Welcome to HP Support Forum. I hope you're well @diablomt!

I came across your message about the printer issue and wanted to share my suggestion with you 🙂

Going through your post, I understand that the scanned documents are opened as a web page rather than an image or a PDF document. This issue could be fixed by changing the file type while scanning from your printer.

First off, have you installed the printer drivers on your PC? If not, click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJ8710/OJ8710_Basicx64_1881.exe to install the printer drivers on your PC.

Now, open the HP Scan on your PC and try to scan. Make sure to select the file type as “JPEG” if the scanned item is a picture or “PDF” if the scanned item is a document and save the settings. Check this video for assistance: http://bit.ly/2nxhZlT

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂
