Welcome to the HP Forums Reekoooo,
I see by your post that you want to be able to access the EWS for the printer.
I can help you with this.
The IP address 192.168.223.1 is for wireless direct.
You can connect any device to the printer's IP address and print.
When the computer is connected to the printer's network, you should be able to open the EWS with the 192.168.223.1 IP typed in the address bar of your browser.
I would install the software on the computer and configure the printer on the router.
Do you have a router?
Then print off the configuration page to get the IPv4 address to access the EWS.
Printing a Configuration Page.
Use Method two.
I am not really clear as to what you are trying to do. Please explain what I can help you with.
Are you connected to all the devices by wireless direct?
Adhoc would be a 169. IPv4 address.
Is the printer installed on the computers?
What products are you able to print from?
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

No sir, I don't have a router
I have a pc windows7 , ipad 3 ios 5.1 , samsung grand android . All these machines work great with my printer ì.e (I can direct print through wirless)
I need to enable security for the direct print access point ì.e (username and password for my printer)
I made my research and found that I need to access the ews so I can enable security from there
My question now is how I can access the ews web site from any machine . I tried to connect to the printer direct print access point from my laptop and put the ip 192.168.223.1 in the chrom addressbar but the page un avalable
Although I can ping the same address from command prompt
I hope every thing is clear now .

Hi Reekoooo,
Thank you for providing that information.
Normally you should be able to access the EWS by the wireless direct's IP of 192.168.223.1.
I would try another browser just to rule that out.
I am curious as to how you were able to enable the wireless direct originally.
Usually you have to enable it after setting up the printer on the router's network from the EWS or through the software install there is a option to open the EWS separately. Unless the new firmware on this printer has the wireless direct already enabled on the printer.
If you run the software installation on the computer, you will get to a point for setting up the wireless, there is a option near the bottom, Open Embedded Web Server. This will open the EWS so you can change your security settings. You don't have to finish the setup to get to this option.
Give it a try and let me know how you make out.
Thank You.

Hello Gemini02,
Sorry for late replay but I already enabled wirless first time while installing the printer first time... nothing unusual.
I tried to access the EWS as you suggested from Programs->HP->HP laser..... ->wirless configuration from the start menu in windows.
still have the problem
I managed to change the settings of that page (EWS) and changed the SSID name to HP_Printer (and add a password)
but when I printed the config page
I foung the changes made in (Network information) section
as follow
802.11b/g/n wireless
status = Enabled
comm mode = infra..
Network Name(ssid) = HP_Printer
Auth... =WPA/WPA2
but the direct print still the same and the ssid not changed and still no security as follows
Direct Print conf..
Direct Print = on
Direct Print Name(SSID) = HP-Print-44-laser Jet 1102
Channel = 6
IPv4 Address =192.168.223.1
So anybody in the printer wireless range still can hock to my printer -----still open network without any security
So how can I add a security to the printer direct print functionality still this is the main problem
Best regards,
Reekoooo

Hi Reekoooo,
I was checking into this further for you.
Anytime there are issues accessing the EWS for the printer, the firmware would have to be updated.
(through a USB connection)
This network that you have already created will allow you the security.
802.11b/g/n wireless
status = Enabled
comm mode = infra..
Network Name(ssid) = HP_Printer
Auth... =WPA/WPA2
The network setup for the wireless direct, will only allow you on the Laserjet printers to:
(these settings can be made from the EWS)
- Print Only - allows printing only, will not allow EWS access at all.
- Open Network - allows all funtions including EWS.
You can't password protect the Wireless Direct on the Laserjets. Inkjets you have the option.
Direct Print = on
Direct Print Name(SSID) = HP-Print-44-laser Jet 1102
Channel = 6
IPv4 Address =192.168.223.1
The best way possible is to have the Wireless Direct turned off and have the printer setup through a wireless Network to have securtiy.
Thank You.
