My Hp Deskjet doesn't pull the paper in straight. This started while in the middle of scanning and printing several items.
It begins to pull and the paper seems to shift, then a crinling paper sound and it jams.

Hi Carl20,
Thank you for using HP products.
You may want to follow the steps in this document which should provide you with several steps to try and resolve the issue.
I have also attached youtube that guide you to perform some steps of checking (except the reset of the printer).

How to clean the paper tray rollers (manually)
1. Turn off and unplug your printer. Each roller is gray or black and they are made of rubber. On HP printers, the printer roller is not on the paper tray; it is on the area inside of the printer where the paper tray slides into the unit. Remove the paper tray and sit your printer upright, so the paper tray area is facing upward, and then look for the printer roller.
2. Pour 1 teaspoon of clean water onto a lint-free cloth and scrub the paper or internal tray rollers with the cloth. Fold the cloth in half and repeat the cleaning process until the rollers are free of dust and debris.
3. Wipe the rollers with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any remaining dust or debris. Let the rollers dry completely before sliding the paper tray back into your printer.
