HP F4435 All-in-One Deskjet
macOS 10.12 Sierra

As soon as the printer is on, it starts to feed paper. The paper then comes through the top, but the ink cartridges haven't even moved, it just feeds the paper halfway through and then "jams", and the paper out symbol flashes in the left screen. If I press cancel, it will complete feeding the paper through and then endlessly repeat the process.. Sometimes the orange flashing error light goes on but not all the time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and reset the printer settings on my computer. I left the printer unplugged for several days, and I also tried holding power and cancel when it's starting up to factory reset... I have no idea what's wrong and haven't been able to find anything similar online.

Any help is appreciated!

I see from the post that you are having issues with your HP DeskJet printer. Don't worry I'll try my best to help you with this,

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you tried to remove the Paper Jam from the rear access door?

Were there any obstructions inside the printer?

Have you tried to clean the rollers? Have you tried to move the rollers manually?

In the meantime, let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

Print a self-test on plain white paper to prove product functionality.

How to print a self-test report

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. Press and hold the Cancel button (), and then press the Start Copy Color button () at the same time. The self-test report prints.

Hello!

I appreciate the quick response. Unfortunately the printer is still not working. To answer some of your questions:

There is no paper jam, but the printer thinks there is, so every time paper is fed through it "jams", but if I press cancel it will continue feeding the paper through. Once the first page is done, it immediately starts feeding another piece of paper, again which jams, etc. until there is no paper left. While the pages are feeding the ink cartridges do not move at all.

There are no obstructions inside the printer, I've taken the access panels off and made sure of that.

I did not clean the rollers, I did move them manually and they roll easily, and are not dusty or damaged.

I performed the hard reset like you suggested, but when I tried to print a test page (several times) the printer seems like it doesn't recognize the command, it doesn't make any noise like it is about to print a page, and if it does, it just starts feeding blank pages again, as I described above.

Thanks again,

Malena

Hi @mvc00,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I see that you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue, I would suggest you uninstall the printer drivers and then try to make multiple copies from the printer and check if that works.

Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.

I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Honestly, I can't even get the printer to stop feeding paper for a second in order to get it to print anything.

I think I'm going to give up on it!

Thank you for all your help regardless.
