Somehow my first question regarding this has vanished.
I am looking for any instructions or service manual for opening the F4580 and clean the waste ink pad. I want to avoid to disassemble more than I need to. I googled and found nothing.

Hi There,
Could you let me know the issue you are having that is behind wanting to clean the waste ink pad?
If you are referrring to the foam pads in the bottom of the printer they are not a serviceable part.
If you registered your printer you should be able to check your warranty status at the following location
Otherwise you will require proof the printer was purchased in the last 12 Months.
If your printer is in warrnty and you are having an issue with the waste ink being full contact support and they should be able to look after you. You can find your country contact details through the following site
In the event you have ink coming from your printer here is a guide on cleaning up
Thanks
Dermot

"If you are referrring to the foam pads in the bottom of the printer they are not a serviceable part."
Does this mean, that when I have printed so much, that this pad is full, I have to throw out the printer and get a new one?
The printer is messy inside. When I print something, the back gets stains. I wanted to print a photo as a postcard, but I cannot print it from both sides.
I need instructions how to take it apart for a thorough cleaning.
At least I know now, that foam pad is what I need to use for further googling.

Hi There,
Typically there wouldn't be a need to change this part.
Do you do a lot of printing?
You can download a program from HP Called the print and scan doctor that you can find here
In this you can go to Printer -> Advanced Printer Data
In there you will find your page count for the printer
if you can send me on the Born on Date and the page count I will see how best to help you.
Thanks
Dermot

When a bucket is full, more water flows over.
When there goes too much ink into the foam pad, that ink has no space. Then the thing needs to be cleaned.
My printer is messy inside, so I need to open and clean it. It is on no importance, how many pages have been printed.
I need to thoroughly clean it, so that I can print on both sides of photo paper without stains.
I need instructions or a service manual how to open and disassemble the F4580.

Hi,
I think you will find it difficult to find a manual for your purpose as it would be advised against cleaning the inside of the printer as you can cause damage and it should not be required.
I haven't been able to find anything.
But if you do let me know the details I suggested in my previous post I can see what options may be offered to you through support.
Thanks
Dermot

I need a service manual how to open the printer. With instructions I can avoid damage by disassembling the wrong parts.
Sorry to be blunt, but I just do not need to know, how many pages have been printed. The thing is messy and it needs to be opened and cleaned.
If HP thinks that a printer, which is messy from having printed a lot should be thrown out and replaced, then I just as well can risk to figure out how to clean it myself, even if I should cause damage. It can only get better.

I just wanted to also express my frustration with this problem as I have it on a Deskjet 6980. I attempted to remove the inkpad in order to clean it and it just fell to pieces (it had perished).
As with the other member here, the printer belongs to us, so if we want to take the risk of breaking it, that is our decision. As it is already "broken" that would actually not be a loss!
HP is blatently acting in an environmentally unfriendly way by not helping...we are only asking for help here. It actually comes down to money....a 50 pence part breaks and HP get us to buy a new printer and we are not even given the option of purchasing the part at some vastly inflated price like the ink cartridges.
In short HP is behaving in a highly irresponsible manner, which then gets passed on to work colleagues and so on. HP really does not gain by this short-sighted policy but who listens to the small man in the street....HP certainly doesn't!

I too have an unresolved “Waste Ink Pad” problem. But NO HELP from HP!
However as a result, I do now have 3 new EPSONS!
It does appear in their responses above that, when HP's "Scripted Talking Points" are pointed out as being both ‘devoid of understanding’ AND ‘an exercise in MENTAL MIDGITRY’ that the next step in their limited Pavlovian training is to RUN-AND-HIDE!
i.e The HP staff quit responding with their canned reply of "A ?possible?warranty? WOULD the ONLY solution"!.
Their inability to understand a well stated (and equally re-explained ) question is second only to MICKY-SOFT’s purposeful Deaf-EAR!

Did you ever get an answer for find a you tube video? I have a J6480 and would like to clean the waste ink reservoir and pads. I found this video, but for a different printer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km3szjM49ZQ
