HP Officeject 6300

This is the second time I have had this happen - 2 different unrelated recipients.

I am given a toll-free number to fax. Once the call connects, the display panel reports I am connected to a different local number. The first was 2-3 years ago to ASAP Checks - they could not assure me to my satisfaction that the 613 number showing up actually belongs to them. 613 is their local area code, but they did not recognize the specific number. as belonging to them. They weren't sure because they use a third party service that forwards their faxes to email. And my faxes never arrived.

Today, it is Fido, one of our national wireless carriers. The fax display tells me it is sending to a 514 number.

Is this what legitimately happens when a number is being forwarded? The destination shows up instead of the number you dialed? Unfotunately, I won't know for at least 48 hours whether Fido received my fax!

Or has our printer been compromised?

Hi,

Yes, the fax shown the number of the actual number if the call was forwarded.

Additionally it may show a different number if a different number was set as the Fax Header.

My bet is number one by your description, companies usually have digital fax services with multiple lines, therefore I assume you see a different number.
