I have the same problem; in my case the HP solutions posted did not work.  I have spent way too much time trying to get my HP J6480 to work. I am talking of weeks; calling their tech support is useless, they try but it seems that many of these problems are beyond their capabilities.  I found myself going on iterative loops with their tech support. I spent days of vacation trying to solve various problems with them.  I tend to agree with some of the users posting. The printer is fine for printing, but trying to get everything else to work as it is supposed too is impossible.   I even tried buying a newer HP printer in the hope that this will take care of the problems. I am moving on, I will be removing the HP software, and trying other software applications. I give up on HP.
