I've got a general printer error. Tried hard resets. Removed cartridges. Replaced cartridges. Printer won't realign because, it seems, the paper feeds too far into the printer...at least that is how the problem presents itself. Any ideas....before I invest in another printer.

Greetings @RJFK,
Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.
I understand that you are getting a paper feed error and you feel that the printer is pulling the paper too much.
Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.
Have you completed the alignment on the printer after replacing the cartridges? Click here.
Request you perform the cleaning of rollers are suggested in this HP Article.
Try to make copies of blank sheets to service the rollers and let me know how it goes.
Keep me posted.

Cannot proceed with any of the cleaning/alignment recommendations because printer seems to be locked in a printing alignment page mode and cannot reset out of it, or reboot. Tried removing, replacing cartridge. All very boring. Turns on saying printing alignment page. Doesn't print. Turn off. Turn on says printing alignment page. Doesn't print.
