Is there a reason we can't find the product code for our printer ourselves rather than call HP support for it? My printer is out of warranty and I'm doing a fix found in the HP Troubleshooting section, and I need a product code.  Is this something which is some kind of OE secret?  Or?

I've had problems getting this model printer to stay on my wireless system since I first got it (contacted support many times when it was still in warranty but nothing worked permanently), but this time I've been given new suggestions by the HP troubleshooter and one of them involves a product code.  I just want this printer to work, that's all.

ALL my desktop, laptop and printers over the years have been HP because of their reliability, but lately I've been having problems with the printers.  What's going on at HP that I can't get the product code without contacting support?

What are you looking for?  The product number is a compact number that can be found on the product label as shown by @ferRX in your other post here.  You were also asking about a long code (that may be the printer's claim code).   The steps in the document here may help find the claim code or see the video here:

To get the best out of the forum please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? How is the printer connected - USB, wired LAN, Wireless LAN, bluetooth? Are there any error messages on the printer or computer screen?  What exactly is the issue you are trying to resolve?
