hp laserjet 3015
Microsoft Windows XP

I have had a HP laserjet 3015 printer for many years. And I have never had any problems with it.

However, I recently started having print quality problems.

The prints and photocopies of text documents  have a dark gray background.

The gray background disapperas by the 3rd or 4th consecutive printed page.

However, if I were to print another document one minute later, the gray background re-appears.

The only solution is for me to print 3 or 4 copies of the same document until, I get a white background.

I tried cleaning the spool. This did not work.

Is there solution ?

Thank you.

Carl

This is now an old unit. Getting good toners is hard. You need to replace the toner cartridge.

Thank you for the info.

This is the first time the gray background has occurred in the 12 years since I bought the printer.

I will buy a new toner

If the toner is defective, would you know if there is some type of refund from the retailer or HP?

Run a supplies status page with the bad toner. Generally if the percentage of toner left is over 20% your should be able to return to the vendor from where purchase for refund or exchange.

It seems I don't have the supplies status feature for this old printer.  I know I have well over 20% toner emaining because this is a new cartridge.  Thanks  for your follow up.

The toner has to be hp oem 12A toner and not aftermarket.
