EXTREMELY annoying: when I try to print a document--any of my usual word documents, I get a message about needing to register for HP ePrint (whatever that is--I never have used it before and don't need it).

So...okay, it won't let me print until I register, but I can't complete the registration because it asks for a pin code that I must get by looking in my email, but as soon as type in that code, an error message says that's not the right code, but I see that my email now has a new message with a different pin code, but by the time I get back to where I have to type that one in, it too has become not valid. And so on.

I want to be able to just use my printer, a LaserJet M1212nf MPF.    Without registering for ePrint.

Why am I getting this problem now after not ever being asked about HP ePrint.

And what would ePrint do for me anyway?

I'm furious about this, with HP, for intruding on my work and preventing me from printing.

Thanks for a quick solution,

Sara Ciborski

Hi saraciborski,

I understand that when you try and print a document, that you are getting a message to "register for HP Eprint". I can help you.

This is certainly a peculiar issue that you are having.

Try and disable the web services on the printer.

  1. Touch the Right Arrow () to display the second navigation screen.
  2. Touch Setup (), and then touch Web Services Setup.
  3. Touch Disable, and then touch OK. The product disables Web Services.

If the issue persists, then check in the start up items and uncheck the HP items.

How to use MSCONFIG .

If the registration keeps coming up, I would uninstall and reinstall as a custom install. Uncheck anything to do with Eprint if listed.

Uninstalling the Printer Software.

HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf Multifunction Printer Drivers.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Have a great weekend!

Thank You.

Thanks for your help but I solved it another way. As usual, I was failing to notice something, which was this: when I went to Print, where it says "Printer" it was showing HP ePrint. All I had to do was click to show other choices and select my regular printer.

What I don't know is why HP ePrint is there as a choice...I never have used or wanted this...but as long as I know how to get to my own printer I'm not in trouble.

I don't what your POS eprint either.  Never needed it before don't want it now.  Been using HP printers for 16years and never had such stupidity slap me in the face.  Stick your eprint up your A&&.

How can I get around this mess?

Hello,

Are you using Windows 8?

The Windows 8 operating system comes with the preinstalled ePrint drivers on the computer. The ePrint driver automatically gets set as the default driver. You just have to change the default printer.

You can delete the ePrint driver if you don't want to use those features.

There is also a separate download for the ePrint software, which I am sure you wouldn't have installed.

The new HP Software also includes the ePrint setup. You can uncheck this feature during the installation.

Thank You.
