My nearly new HP Deskjet 2755e suddenly stopped connecting with home Wi-Fi network. Does not consistently recognize any nearby networks either . Use HP Smart to no avail. Have followed all recommended actions (power off printer and modem, reset wireless, etc.) Can’t afford to junk it. Can the unit be reset to factory settings?
Thanks

Hi @BruceF49,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing a connectivity issue with your HP DeskJet 2755e All-In-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
Yes, the unit can be reset to factory settings.
To assist you better:
- Which iOS device are you using?
- Is the blue Wi-Fi light blinking on the printer?
- What is the current version of iOS installed on your device?
- How far is the printer located from the WiFi router?
- Do you have a dual-band router?
- If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.
While you respond to that, please follow the below steps to resolve the issue.
Restore Network to defaults:
- Most inkjet printers without a touchscreen: Press and hold the Wireless
and Cancel
buttons until the Power button flashes, and then wait for the Wireless light to flash.
- Once you restore the network to defaults, then please follow the instructions on this link to connect the printer back to your PC.
Once you connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network the blue light will become solid, please try printing using Airprint.
Print with AirPrint
- Open the app that you want to print from.
- To find the print option, tap the app’s share icon —
or
— or tap
- Scroll down and tap
or Print. If you can’t find the print option, check the app’s User Guide or Help section. Not all apps support AirPrint.
- Tap Select Printer and choose an AirPrint-enabled printer.
- Choose the number of copies or other options, like which pages you want to print.
- Tap Print in the upper-right corner.
Please go ahead and Update printer firmware and Update software on iOS.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for responding. I spent 90 minutes online with an HP Support fellow. He ultimately threw in the towel after trying unsuccessfully with WiFi connect and USB direct connect. He also was unable to reload fresh HP 2755e software. My home Wi-Fi is working with all other devices. HP Smart recognizes all nearby networks except mine. Had been working fine and stopped connecting.
I was unable to connect HP Warranty to replace printer under warranty. All calls dropped. No online warranty chat help option. I’m losing patience.
Mac 15.05 software, and iPad Air 2. Blue light blinks. Router is 5 feet away from IPad. Not a dual band router.

@BruceF49,
Thank you for your response, I really appreciate your efforts,
Please try the below steps to connect your printer to the network. So here we are going to use Wi-Fi direct and then convert that connection to regular Wi-Fi.
-->On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Resume button together for three seconds. (When Wi-Fi Direct is turned on, the Wi-Fi Direct icon on the display stays on)
--->On your computer or phone go to wifi and connect it to your printer
--->Select your printer with DIRECT in the name from the list of available networks (example: DIRECT-74-HP Deskjet2700).
--->Select the Wi-Fi Direct printer signal in Wi-Fi settings
--->If prompted for a password, type 12345678. This is the default password to log in.
--->Now open a browser and type 192.168.223.1
--->you will be able to access the printer's EWS page
--->on the page, you will find network - click on it
--->go to wireless and select wireless setup wizard
--->now select the network that you want your printer to connect to and type in the password
--->the printer will have solid blue light if it's connected
--->then connect your phone back to your network
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I am also facing the same problem with 3 months old printer 2755e. Previously it was working but now is not identifying my Wi-Fi network. My network is working fine with TV, phone, tablet and laptop but only issue is with HP printer.
In your step below, The printer is not showing my WI-FI but is showing other peoples nearby house WiFi.
--->now select the network that you want your printer to connect to and type in the password

Hi Everyone,
If you are having trouble with the HP Deskjet 2755 (or any Deskjet 27xx model) and you are using a router from CenturyLink, you may be encountering a router compatibility issue.
There is a firmware update available with a fix for this issue: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-deskjet-2700-all-in-one-printer-series/29378157/...
You can download and run the above printer firmware update utility.
In order to apply this update, you will have to either temporarily connect the printer with a USB cable. OR connect the PC directly to the printer's Wi-Fi Direct network (DIRECT-xy-HP Deskjet 2700..)
After the firmware update is applied successfully, it is now possible to connect the printer to the CenturyLink C4000 series router. If you had previously connected it may reconnect automatically, or you may need to reset the printer into Wi-Fi setup mode and use HP Smart to configure the wireless network settings.
If you are not using a Wi-Fi router provided by CenturyLink, can you share which make and model of router you are using?
