I have had my HP 3830 for about a year. Bought with new HP Pavillion Laptop win 10, at same time. Printer setup seems successful, but print job will not print. I called when new and was told it was due to my use of Arris Gatewateay WIFI router. The HP tech changed my settings on the router and I have had connection. Just switched cable providers, and guess what, new Arris Gateway connects, but will not print. This is not a bad install. It is a channel conflict or the like, I was told. Is there a tech bulletin or doc that addresses this that I could write down, so I dont have to call HP, on my nickel, every time I switch out my router. PS No problems with any other WIFI device. Thanks.
PS. Update to problem1-26-17:
Deleted all printers, uninstalled printer software, Disconnected USB cable, resarted, downloaded 3830 software.
Problem solved. Have not addressed USB connection.

Hello, @MBush11 – Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for reaching out to HP Support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.
Going through your post, I understand that after changing the router, you are having difficulty while printing. But I am not very sure where the issue is. Is it while connecting the printer to the router? Or is the printer connected to the router, but still won’t print? Let me know!
If the printer is connected to the router already, then try assigning a manual IP and then try installing the machine. Here are the steps:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
Once done, then perform a clean install. Follow the steps below:
- First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Restart your computer.
- Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL61242/mp-147828-1/OJ3830_Basicx64_72.exe to install the software.
- Select wireless in the connection type window and follow the on-screen instructions.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Have a great day 🙂
