HP 4500n Officejet
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I added an HP 4500n wireless Officejet printer to my network.  I used the driver disk that came with it, and the printer works fine.  But, I can't see how to use it as a scanner.  My other HP printer, when I installed it, created a choice in my start menu, under "HP," for "HP Scan."  But even though I installed the software for the 4500, there isn't an option under the printer name to do a scan.

Is there some other driver I have to install?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Can you check if you install the FULL feature software?

If you have installed the FULL feature software, there should be a Printer icon shorcut on your desktop?

If you have not installed, the following resource will help you :

HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL50403/mp-150580-2/hppiw.exe

Be sure to select the FULL feature software.

Thanks.

I installed from the disk, and chose to install all software.   I looked at the drivers available from HP online, but the only "full feature" drivers there were for Windows XP, so that didn't help.

Hi,

Can you try this alternative scan solution :

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Let us know if that works.
