HP 5745 all in one
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Recently my Windows 10 machine will not print. I ended up re-installing the full download for my HP 5745 all in one. The printer and computer are on the same network and all is good until I choose to install. The Checking Network Environment screen appears and the green bar doesn't quite make it until the end. Then my printer showing with its assigned IP address. I click next and then get a failed / retry screen. I have tried everything the HP support site recommends. I am ready to dump it and try another brand. BTW I can find on the HP site where it mentions getting hung up at the Checking Network Environment screen for Win 7 and Win 8, but not Win 10. Thanks

Hi,

    1. Right click the Start menu and select Command Prompt (Admin) to lauunch an elevated command prompt dialog.
    2. Type the following command and press enter:

 

 

netsh winsock reset
    reboot your PCFollow the HP Software and check for any difference.If the same persists right click the Start Menu and select Programs and Features.Uninstall the HP Officejet 5740 Basic Device Software.Reinstall the HP Software and check again.

Sorry, but this did not solve the problem. In fact, I get past the Check Network Environment screen and the Installing network device screen shows with the green bar moving across the screen for 5 mins. Then teh Unsuccessful  Network Installation screen shows. So the software installs. I just cannot connect. The 5745 still works just fine printing from my Win 8.1 dell, ipad Air 2, and our Macbook. Just not the Win 10 machine.
