Hi ralphnwendy47,

I will do my best to help you with your scanning issue. Could you please follow the steps in this document  for "A Connection Error". Follow the steps in this document to on How to Find the WEP or WPA Key or Password for Your Network. If you cannot locate it there then you will have to call your Network provider for this information.

Let me know if this helped.

Thank you,

I worked on behalf of HP.

I have the 403 problem. It is not a problem with the WEP or WPA key. I received the email with my PIN for my e-mail address, and I can print wirelessly w/o a problem, so I'm connecting to the Internet fine. What else causes the 403?

ShlomiL,

I have exactly the same problem as @cid73gco. I was able to scan to email fine until just recently, then all of a sudden it stopped. Can still scan to computer (although was temporarily disabled too). I followed your intructions to a "t," but still no results. Any ideas?

Try setting a manual DNS addresses and check if that may help getting the problem resolved:

  1. Open the HP Photosmart 6520 icon and then click on Printer Home Page (EWS). the EWS appears.
  2. Click the Network tab, then click on Networking.
  3. Click on Network Address (IP)
  4. Set the DNS Address Configuration as Manual.
  5. Set the preferred address as 8.8.8.8
  6. Set the Alternate address as 8.8.4.4 and confirm the changes.
  7. Next click the Settings tab.
  8. Ensure the correct Coutry/Region is selected.

Close the window and try using the Scan to Email feature again.

Same issue.  Worked fine as a scan to email and then just stopped.

Ready to throw unit out of window.

Can print wirelessly from every device in the house, but it refuses to scan to email.

This is false information.  Can you explain why you would change the DNS settings to those values?

The correct fix for me was found here:

I hope this helps others; though, I did learn a little bit in accessing the printer's web site...that was cool.

Regards

It's actually very helpful information. I showed me that neither manual nor automatic DNS were set. So it helped me tremendously in troubleshooting & resolving the problem. Nothing "false" about it.
