Three year-old HP 7450 Photo Printer suddenly stopped printing black from the large black cartridge. Installed a new HP brand cartridge, cleaned heads several times to no improvement. Saw on the forums that removing the cartridge and cleaning beneath it with distilled water and a Q-tip might solve the problem. I've done this twice and cleaned heads too, but I'm still not getting any black.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you are unable to print in black from your HP Photosmart 7450 Photo Printer.
This issue could occur if the nozzles of the black cartridge are clogged.
Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.
And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: Black Ink Not Printing
Let me know how this works.
You have a good day ahead.

My original post said that I have already tried to clean below the black cartridge twice using distilled water and a Q-tip, waiting a half hour for drying. I installed a new HP black cartridge and cleaned it also. The printer diagnostics page show on a few light black smudges on the sides and only near the top.
Does my HP 7450 need repair? Is repair possible? Is this printer worth repairing or is it toast?
