HP OfficeJet Pro 7740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Our small office recently purchased a HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 to use as a department printer/scanner.  The printer prints great but we are having some issues with scanning.  The office consists of 8 - Windows 10 (64-bit) machines.

The printer is designated a static IP address through MAC filtering at the router level so it always gets the same IP address.  This printer is hardwired using ethernet.

The problem we are having is with the scan to computer feature.  4 of the computers show up on the scanner menu and scan to computer perfectly.  2 more show up on the scan to computer menu on the scanner but it will only scan from the glass on the printer.  It just ignores what's in the ADF on these.  The other 2 computers do not show on the "scan to computer" menu at all.

How can we fix it where all these computers show on the scan to computer menu and will all scan from the ADF?  Scanning from the HP scan software on the computers works on all of these computers but the "scan to computer" option is preferred in our office.  Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Watch this example to use the ADF, it could be that the last user (using the HP Scan software) has set the source to "Flatbed".

How to use "Scan to Computer" feature properly

So if you need to use the ADF, then you will have to use the HP Scan software to set the "Source" to "Use Document feeder if loaded"

These resources will be useful if you need to use some of the features of this printer:
