I have an HP 8600 Pro which worked wirelessly using a D-Link 524 router (802.11g). I upgraded to an ASUS RT-N56U to get to 802.11n (300Mbs) speed. The new router works fine with everything except the printer. I am using Windows XP. Since I just installed I have not setup firewall blocks or blocked any MAC addresses. The only change I made was to go from WEP security to WPA2. I am concerned the printer can handle WPA but not WPA2. I can't see the printer on the network.

Any thoughts?

The link is no longer there and I desperately need to solve the same problem with no more wasted work time. Anyone got the info on the missing page?

Please provide the following relevant information so someone can help including:

Printer Model -
Detailed Problem Description -
Operating System of computer (including service pack revision) -
Connection Method - USB, Hardwired LAN, Wireless? -
Make and model of router and modem? -
Error messages - on printer screen and/or computer, any blinking light patterns?
If wireless, when the problem occurs, what is status of Blue Wireless light on printer, on, off or blinking? –

Power off printer and router. Power on router and wait 3 mins, power on printer. Does it connect to the router now? Do you have a valid IP address?

Printer Model - HP Officejet Pro 8600 Pro Plus N911g

Detailed Problem Description -

The printer has connected to this router network for about a year. Inability to connect started yesterday. I've reset the printer and the router by unplugging multiple times.
Printer will connect when I remove the router password. When I then reset the PW, the printer sees the router/network, allows me to select it, allows me to enter the PW, and then fails to connect. It tries for a bit, then gives the message "Unable to connect."
The printer's diagnostic printout from the failed connect is titled Wireless Network Test Results. It says pass on most items, but FAIL on No Filtering under Settings and the channel is "not run."
Under Current Configuration, the printer's diagnostic printsays "not applicable" in the IP Address and Configuration Source. Communcation Mode is Infrastructure; Authentication Type: WPA-PSK, and Encrption Automatic (AES or TKIP).

Operating System of computer (including service pack revision) - It's not a question related to the computer, only to the printer and wireless router. But the answer is Windows 7 Home Premium.

Connection Method - USB, Hardwired LAN, Wireless? - Wireless
Make and model of router and modem? -ASUS RT-AC68U

Error messages - on printer screen and/or computer, any blinking light patterns?

blinking

Already done; no.

Do you have a valid IP address? See above re Network Test Results. The Network summary on the screen says IP: No link.

Alright, as you have figured out, the blinking light means you are not connected to your SSID in the router. Let reset the printer back to factory defaults and try to connect again. If that fails, hard reset the router back to factory defaults and try to connect again.

HP Recommended

Nope. The printer still only connects to the network if I remove the password from the Internet. And yes, I'm sure I'm using the correct password on the printer. Problem unchanged.

HP Recommended

Well this isn't good. Set router to wireless channel 1, never 'auto'. Let's try setting a static IP in the printer outside the DHCP range of the router. Connect both ways again.

HP Recommended

I'm concerned about making changes that will knock all the other users off the network.

Also don't see a channel 1 on my settings.
