Example: HP OfficeJet Pro 8720

If I run out of ink, do I need to replace all the cartridges?  I replaced the black , and it told me I needed blue ink.  That was a few days ago. Now it's asking me to replace the cyan.  Will it ask me to replace the pinkish color next?  Can I print with just two of the cartridges instead of 4?  How do I set that up?  Please let me know.

The Officejet Pro 8720 requires all cartridges to be installed and have ink to prevent damage to the printhead.  You can check the ink levels from the front panel - touch the ink droplets icon at the top of the home page, it will bring up the estimated ink levels for black and each color.

BTW, cyan is "blue", magenta is "pink".
