HP Color LaserJet M277 cleaning cycle

I am having 2 problems with the printer: 

1. I can't seem to print on any paper size other than Letter in Tray 2.  I would like to print several 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 thank you cards, but when I put the cards in Tray 2 and select the size, paper quality, tray etc...it starts to print, but then goes immediately into cleaning mode and prints a blank page with a yellow spotch on it.  Why can't I print with smaller sized pages in the tray?  I used to do this with my HP ColorLaserJet 2840 all the time, and never had this problem.

2.  Instead of printing in Tray 2, I have tried inserting one card at a time in the manual feed slot, but it runs a cleaning cycle after EVERY card that I print, which takes forever.  How do I stop this from happening?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.  Printer drivers and Firmware are both up to date.

I understand you are having trouble printing on card stock with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277. I will do my best to help.

Below is supported media information for M277dw.

Please check if the media you used is supported by M277dw.

Media Type:

Paper (bond, brochure, colored, glossy, heavy, letterhead, light, photo, plain,

preprinted, prepunched, recycled, rough), transparencies, labels, envelopes, cardstock

Media Size:

Letter, legal, executive, A4, A5

custom: 3 x 5 to 8.5 x 14 in

Media Weight:

60 to163 g/m2  paper

up to 176g/m2 postcards

up to 200g/m2 glossy

Please also make sure Media settings in the printer properties when print from the application( e.g., word, ppt...)

is same as the media you actully use.

If the media size/type/weight is not aligned with what you select from driver when printing from application, then the printer may enter cleaning mode.
