HP DeskJet 3630
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just bought and installed software for HP DeskJet 3630 All in One Printer.

Printer appears on all programmes' print dialog box.

Can send document to print, printer starts to print, paper gets a inch into slot then stops.

Printer is flashing 'E1' error. The is an icon of paper flashing, as well as an exclamation mark. I suspect it's a paper alignment issue.

And Windows 10  pops up with a message 'Error on printing'.

Printer dialogue screen says 'Error - Printing, Attention Required'.

Can't find anything in troubleshooting about this particular error code.

Any thoughts?

Hi! @MarcGrundy, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand you have printing issues with your printer.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Please try the steps recommended below.

Resetting the printer can clear carriage jam errors.
Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
   NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot E3' Error on your printer.

Let me know if this helps!

Have a wonderful weekend ahead! 🙂

The printer's ink cartridge does not slide therefore it does not print, it has never worked. I took it back to Staples and they could not get it to work& said to contact you to replace the printer.

It did not help not for me and not for the staff at the Staples store where I purchased the printer

Hi @NHlady,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I understand the ink cartridge does not slide, just wanted to check if you have tried to move the carriage manually, if the carriage does not move freely, this could be a printer hardware. I would personally suggest you contact our HP phone support for available service options. If your product is out of warranty, please choose paid options to get the tech support number.

Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone numberCase number and phone number appear.
