I have the same problem with the HP 970cxi.
Windows 10 x64 find a driver for 970cxi but during installation windows throws error message:
"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.
Windows found the driver for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
970cxi hp.
One of the installers for this device cannot preform the installation at this time."
And under DEVICE MANAGER printer was added under OTHER DEVICES and the QUESTION mark is above it.
When i try to print in any app I get answer that i need to instal printer.
I tried to power on and off printer and change USB ports but it wasnnt solve the problem.
Printer was normally normally in Windows 8 x32 fey days before.
Please give me link to any driver (.inf) so i can install and print documents.
doesnt need to be original for 970cxi, only that work so i can print text documents.
Thank you very much for your help.
And printer is not Offline. Driver dont work anymore in Windows 10 x64. thanks

Welcome to the HP Community @Hp970cxi,
I saw your post about your Deskjet 970cxi not functioning with Windows 10. I have checked out the supported printers and drivers for Windows 10, and this unit can only be installed with the Windows Update driver here: Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver
If the unit will not connect and print, you may need an upgraded unit to work with the newer OS (Windows 10). If you wish to contact HP to see what your options are, I will leave their contact info below.
You can also try running the Print and Scan Doctor tool, and the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows to see if they can help you print.
HP's contact info:
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number
Case number and phone number appear.
I hope this helps,
