HP Deskjet 1050A
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I purchased an HP Deskjet 1050A printer from the Middle East. I normally used 122 Black, 122 Color cartridges in the Middle East without a problem.

I brought the printer to the US and could not find 122 Black, 122 Color cartridges, but could not find them at Staples. I believe the 122 cartridges are for use in the Middle East.

I found the 61 Black, 61 Color cartridges, which state on the box that they are compatible with the HP Deskjet 1050 printer (they do not say 1050A, whcih is my specific model).

When I put the new 61 Black cartridge into my printer, the ink cartridge alert blinks. I just purchased it new. Is the 61 Black cartridge not compatible with the HP DEskjet 1050A?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Please contact HP to set your printer to your new location and to use the local ink cartridges for your printer.

This document will explain the details:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02558798

Follow these steps :

1. Printer must be installed and connected. (Windows or Mac)

2. Purchase a full set (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) of Original HP ink cartridges.  You need this to reset the printer to a new region.

3. Contact HP using the link :

Hope that helps!

I put a new 61 Black and 61 Tri-color cartridge into the printer.

The Black Ink light on the printer flashes quickly and the Tri-Color Ink light is turned on, but not blinking.

I clicked the link you provided to contact HP and followed all of the links until it identified my printer. I reached https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp/product/HP-Deskjet-1050A-All-in-One-Printer-series---J410/50... and then clicked on “HP Support Options,” but at some point, I reached a page that stated that my printer was no longer supported.
