HP Deskjet Ink ADvantage 1515
Microsoft Windows XP

Hi. I buy HP Deskjet 1515 printer July 2015. I am continually using original inks (Ink ADvantage 650) from a known department store. Last September, I was looking for Ink Cartridge but the saleman gave me INK ADVANTAGE 678 (both tri color and black). He said that it is also compatible with 1515 as shown in the box.

However, tonight as I was about to replace my ink cartridge, the printer showed me 'INCOMPATIBLE INK CARTRIDGE" warning.. What???

Where can I buy Ink Advantage 650, as i noticed it is not already available in the market. and what will i do with my "INCOMPATIBLE INK ADVANTAGE 678"????

Hi,

The pritner uses the 650 ink cartridges in one cartridge and the 678 cartridges in another country, as listed below:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01766411

Both cartridges are not intended for the same country...

What country are you located at?

What country did you purchase the printer from? did you moved from one country to another?

Hello.

No, I did not transfer residency. I bought the printer and I am buying my inks at SM Mall in Calamba City, Laguna Philippines only.

Thanks for clarifying.

I suggest contacting the local HP Support, the printer should only use the 678 ink cartridges in Asia Pacific.

If the printer uses the 650 ink cartridges it is intended for the Middle East or Europe and not for your country, you will need to contact HP and reset the printer to use the local ink cartridges:

https://support.hp.com/ph-en/contact-hp/product/HP-Deskjet-Ink-Advantage-1510-All-in-One-Printer-ser...

You will must have a full set of genuine HP 678 ink cartridges (both Black and Color) and have the printer connected to a computer, only then a support representative will be able to help you modifing the printer (see the following as a reference):

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02558798

Or alternatively contact the retailer, as this may be a parallel import from another country..

Regards,

Shlomi

the link that you sent me said that i should contact HP support. I tried it several times but to no avail. there is still no support for me to able to reset my printer. I tried to uninstall the printer and install it again using the driver downloaded from your website not just once but twice!. but it still doesn't solve the issue.

even after reinstalling the printer, it still gave me the warning that "INCOMPATIBLE INKS"?

what would i do now? this is hampering my work and my daughter's school projects.

Hello... after many trials, I was able to contact HP Support Chat last Saturday. Rahul have been very patient to my queries. He forwarded the number of HP Philippines Support team and ask me to contact them.

Just, this afternoon, after more than 1 hour on the phone, with the help of Sharanya, I was able to got answer to my questions and have my printer reset for the Philippine setting. She was vary patient and helpful.

Kudos to Rahul and Sharanya who does not gave up in trouble shooting and resetting my printer. I am now using 678 cartridge and will not have hard time looking for ink replacement in our country.
