HP Deskjet 2460
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

REcenrtly my printed suddenly stopped printing in the middle of a  siple balco and white text print job. It was the first time it happened withotu finishing the print job. The printer power on button kept on blinking, which made me feel it was not working.  Whiel acknowledging HP Deskjet 2460 is a very old model, I would liek to know if it is time to change to a new model or if the printer is just having an error?

I suspected it might be due to the new Mac OS system ELCaptain I installed some time ago that clashes with the old printer driver.

Can you please kidnly point me to the cause and solution of the problems?

@Czosg

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP Deskjet D2460 Printer. I read that the printer stopped printing by itself and the power light started to blink repeatedly. Not to worry though, as I have a few suggestions.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Did any changes take place on the printer recently like updates or a paper jam, etc?
  • Did you try to restart the printer and check?
  • Are any other lights blinking too?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

If the issue still persists then please perform the steps as described in detail from this link.

I hope this helps. Please keep me posted for any further assistance. Cheers! 🙂
