I follow the uninstall instructions to the letter. After reinstalling the drivers via the link provided I didn’t have the HP folder under the start menu. The printer did show up in the Devices and Printers folder however it had an alert. I tried to troubleshoot the problem but it said HP 3050A J611 Driver not found. This is the same response I get when Windows says it’s installing drivers as shown below. Then I used the original HP disk to install the drivers. And the alert went off of the printer in the Devices and Printers window. The HP folder showed up under the Start menu and the printer works but the scan option still doesn’t work.

 

Any more suggestions?

  • HP Deskjet 3050a J611 Series (USB) - Passed
  • HP Deskjet 3050a J611 Series  - No Driver Found

I also noticed by using Device Manager under Devices and Printers the Printer shows up under Imaging Devices. And under Other Devices I show an unknown device. I thought the scanner showed up as a separate device before. But I may be worng.

I understand that you are unable to scan from the computer to your HP Deskjet 3050A e-All-in-One Printer.

 

Please follow the steps to scan from the computer: 

 

1. Open the HP Scan application. Click Start > Programs >HP > HP Deskjet 3050A J611 series >HP Scan

2. Select the type of scan that you want from the shortcut menu and then click Scan.

 

NOTE: If Show Scan Preview is selected, you will be able to make adjustments to the scanned image in the preview screen.  

 

3. Select Save if you want to keep the application open for another scan or select Done to exit the application.

4. After the scan is saved, a Windows Explorer window will open in the directory where the scan was saved.

 

Let me know if this works.

Unfortunately I don't get that far. As soon as I click HP Scan it tries to run the application. The pointer turns to circle and spins briefly like it is trying to run but nothing happens.

I've tried one last thing that seems to have worked. I followed all the unistall instructions that were recommended above. I used Device Manager in the Devices and Printers section under the Start menu and removed the printer from the Imaging Devices and Unknown Devices areas. I then went to my C: drive and deleted all directories that said HP or Hewlett Packard in the Program Files, Program Files (x86) and Program Data directories. Then I did a search on Deskjet and deleted over 20 references. I rebooted and reinstalled the printer (USB option) using the original HP Printer disk and rebooted again. I can now print and scan via USB without any problems. 

 

I have 2 questions

1) How do I make sure I have all the latest drivers for Windows 7 Professional?

 

2) I run HP Update but it fails. I click on the link and I get HP Update Software Utility. The progress bar starts to run but then fails saying it's having trouble running and has me "click here" to manually download which also fails with this response.

I am glad to know that the issue resolved after you deleted all the printer entries and installed the software as fresh one. I also see that you wanted to know how to keep the printer updated with the latest software.
