I use refilled ink cartridges for my HP Deskjet 6988.  The ink light for the black cartridge is blinking and won't print. The cartridge has plenty of ink in it. I have cleaned the connectors with a cotton swab and alcohol. I have checked that the x-bias spring is in place.  I don't know what else to do.

Is there a workaround or a way to disable this check ink feature?  It would be nice if the printer would at least keep printing until I see the ink run out on the paper, but the printer just stops and refuses to print when the ink lights blink. :indifferent:

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

It's possible that the refilled cartridges have failed (typically they don't have the same quality & reliability as genuine HP). You could try returning to the store to see if they'll replace them?

I experienced the same issue.  I resolved it by unplugging the power cord from the back, and letting the printer go through its full startup. My documents, including test page, printed fine. The ink indicator light is no longer on.
