HP Deskjet 4280

My HP Deskjet F4200 series printer is not supported in Windows 11. Will there be compatible software & drivers available soon?

Hi @robbiet43,

I'd like to help!

HP Deskjet F4280 All-in-One Printer for windows 11 is not available from the HP website and the drivers are not available since windows vista OS.

Try using the Windows built-in drivers

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi @robbiet43 ,

The information provided by @Jay_G24 is correct and the first option is to try with the Built-in drivers from Windows.

Also like an alternative you can try with the next drivers>

Deskjet F4280

I tried the Windows Built-In Drivers you suggested and they didn't work. I don't think HP is supporting their old Deskjet F4200 series anymore on Win 11. Too bad as both my F4200's are still working well. I guess I'll just have to go back to my old computer with Windows 10 to accomplish any printing/scanning. Thanks for your suggestion though.

I tried the download of the HP Photosmart_C5580 you suggested. I still couldn't connect my device. The "error" message said:

"This App can't run on this device because it causes security or performance issues on Windows"

I believe HP has decided to no longer support the old Deskjet F4200 series printers anymore. I will now have to jump back to my old computer with Windows 10 to print or scan anything. My 2 printers work well, but they are over 10 years old. Do you think there's any chance HP will decide to provide drivers/software in the future for these old printers that allow compatibility w/ Win 11?

Thanks for all your help,

Rob

Hi @robbiet43 ,

Also you can try with the driver provided in the next message:

I tried your suggested link and downloaded the software. It didn't take and I got the error message "Fatal error during installation". I submitted an error report to HP and attempted a manual reinstall of the software but got the same error message again. I noted that the software appeared to be designed for Win10, so perhaps just not compatible with Win11?

Your attempts to help have been so appreciated. I will continue to try to make my Series 4200's work with my new laptop with Win11 but perhaps I'm just tilting to windmills.

Thanks again,

robbiet43
