DeskJet 3755

Dear Community,

I am from Brazil but I am currently in the US and I want to buy a all in one printer.

I have found that the one I want here in the US (DeskJet 3755) has a different name in Brazil (Deskjet Ink Advantage 3776).

In this HP info site: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05046448, I found that despite they look similar, the one from Brazil uses a different Ink Cartridge.

The one here from the US says it uses the HP 123 Cartridge in Latin America - however this ink is not sold in Brazil.

Do you know if HP 122 or HP 664 ink cartridge options would work with the US model HP DeskJet 3755?

Thank you!

Hi IVANFERRI,

You are correct that the same basic printer has different model names in different regions.

The printers and the ink cartridges are regionalized.

Ink cartridges made for the printer Deskjet Ink Advantage cannot be used in the US Deskjet 3755.

You cannot use ink cartridges purchased in Brazil in a printer purchased in the U.S.

If you purchase a printer and then move to another region - you will need to contact HP Customer Support to change the regional setting on your printer.  Thereafter you would use the cartridges in the region you currently reside in.

This allow HP to be competitive all over the world with ink prices.

Here is a document that explains this.

I hope this information is helpful.

Hi Jean, thank you very much for your answer.
I understood most of what you said.
My only doubt is: since here in the US is much cheaper, would you recommend me to buy it here or it's not worth It since the ink cartridge for the US model is not sold in Brazil?
Is it too hard to change the regional setting as you said?
Thank you a lot!

Hi IVANFERRI,

Right now your are in the U.S. , correct?  You can buy the printer much cheaper here in the U.S.?

I think it is up to you what you decide to do.  It is dependent on how long you plan to be in the U.S.  If you need a printer here - it makes sense to go ahead and buy it now.

You will need to switch it to Brazil regionalization when you move back to Brazil.  You will have to contact HP Customer Support  to make this change.  It isn't too hard to do - but you have to contact Customer Support to have them walk you through the steps.  Then you will be able to buy and use cartridges purchased in Brazil.

Hope this helps!

Hi Jean, correct. I am currently in the US and I am willing to buy it and take it with me to Brazil because there it is around 4 times more expensive.

My only concern is: in the website that I mentioned in my first post it says that the ink cartridge compatible with this printer in Latin America is the HP 123. However this option is not available for sale in Brazil.

Do you know if any other cartridge option from Brazil (specially 122 and 664 that are the most common to find in BR) would work with this printer after I contact HP support?

Thank you very much again!

Hi IVanferri,

Before you make the purchase you may want to confirm that you can get the cartridges you need in Brazil.

I am not knowledgeable about what cartridges are available in Brazil.

If you can, you may want to see if there is an e-mail or chat option on the website you were looking to purchase from.  They may be able to confirm whether or not you can get the cartridges you need in Brazil.

I don't want to assure you that you can - I just don't know.
