Hello!

I Have scanner HP Digital Sender Flow 8500 fn1, latest firmware - 2302786_433701 , after scanning the document runs 10-20 minutes and displays the message "30.01.40 General scanner communication failure". Error disappears when rebooting, but then repeats! Sometimes appears by itself, without the prior scan! How can I solve this problem!

Sorry for my english!

Thanks for help!

Hi,

With regards to HP Scanjet 8500fn1 Worstation, when the scanner displays 30.01.40 does it also display 99.04.20 Firmware Installation Failed message?

As you have already performed or have latest firmware on the Scanner. Have you performed a Clean disk from the Preboot menu then performed Firmware upgrade?

To Perform Clean disk:

Access the Preboot menu

  1. Turn the product on.
  2. Press and hold the Stop  button when the LED lights are illuminated solid.
  3. Use the keyboard to navigate the menu.
  4.  Select Adminstration >Clean disk.

NOTE: These steps will erase all data and configuration on the scanner.

Suggested to perform Clean disk then upgrade firmware.

Your advice did not help!

My actions:
1) Turn the product on.
2) Press the STOP key when the Ready, Data and Attention LEDs illuminate solid.
3) Select Adminstration> Format disk.
4) Select Download-> USB Thumbdrive-> 8500fw_2302786_433701.bdl.
5) Waiting until the message "Completed."
6) At the end choose "Continue".

After that the scanner is turned on, and the screen immediately the message 30.01.40 and after 99.04.20.

Now each time you restart immediately see these two posts!

Hi,

If the error persists after performing steps of Clean disk and firmware upgrade, then its a hardware failure.

Request you to contact your respective region support team and get assisted with onsite for part replacement.
