The automatic output tray extender has stopped functioning. It's in the 'closed' position but is not swinging out when printing. The printer is otherwise printing fine, it's just annoying to keep having to catch the papers!
I have tried turning the power off to the machine and restarting it (a couple of times). I have also tried printing an alingment page as this was a suggested remedy for a similar problem on another model.
If anybody has another suggestion for how to solve this problem, I'd be grateful.
Thanks

I see from the post that you are having an issue with automatic output tray extender has stopped working on your HP Envy 4527 printer. Don't worry I'll try my best to help you with this,
After reviewing your post, I think there is a lock under the track if this is locked this could be one of the reasons why it won't come out automatically.
In the meantime, let's try to perform a hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
I hope this should do the trick. Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Hi @JC54,
Thank you for replying,
I appreciate your time and efforts,
I understand you have tried performing a Hard reset on the printer and still you are having an issue with the tray extender. Unfortunately, there is no lock as I did check it should automatically come out.
In this scenario, I would suggest here is to try and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website.
If the issue still persists, I would suggest the next step would be to perform an advanced reset on the printer.
I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.
Let me know if that helps. Thank you!
Cheers
