HP ENVY 5660
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

I Have an HP ENVY 5660.

It is not letting me print.

The display screen tells me  to remove and reinstall indicated ink cartridge. It then shows me the ink levels for both cartridges. the Black ink level is full, but has a Red X to the left of the level. On my may it tells me there is the ink level for the black cartridge is "unknown".

I have tried turning the printer on and off. I have tried to reinstall the cartridge. This is the second new cartridge I have tried with this.

Oh, and the warranty for this printer ran out 11 days ago.

HELLLLLPPPPP.

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that the printer is giving an X symbol for the black cartridge on the printer front panel, you have tried 2 new cartridges. I will be glad to assist you.

Have you cleaned the contacts on the cartridges and tried to reseat the cartridge?
