Hey, HP!

The 7640 is a relatively new series. How about you guys provide a software fix for this problem.

The solution on here is ridiculous!

I have unplugged the power cord.  When i load the photo paper in tray and close it the paper and tray option comes up but only the main tray is highlighted and it will not allow  me to switch to photo paper.

According to a previous post on this issue mine is not a software problem as it will not even copy a photo from the photo tray.  I purchased this specifically for copying and printing photos.

mAYBE YOU CAN HELP AFTER HOURS WASTED YESTERDAY...7640 WANTS TO ONLY PRINT ON PHOTO PAPER..dID RESET NEW SOFTWARE 54 PAGES OF PHOTO PAPER PLUS MY INSTANT INK COSTS ALMOST DOUBLED....

 

TRID PRINTING THROUGH EXCEL, ADOBE AND MANY OTHERS.. oNLY PRINT THAT WORKS ON 8.5X11 IS IF i COPY TO WORD AND THEN PRINT THAT --- IT WILL PRINT ON REGULAR PAPER....

 

PRINTER IS 1 YEAR AND 2 DAYS OLD...

 

so i READ ABOVE AND IT COPIED FINE TO REGULAR PAPER WITH EMPTY PHOTO TRAY....

 

then if I settings I found an issue...Borderless keeps setting to on...when I select plain paper...And finally got an error message....DOES NOT RECOGNIZE PHOTO TRAY... in options 5350381.... But I go into options and border is on and now it is set at photo paper...So If I set it to regular paper, everyday printing and borderless off, it resets itself to borderless on and photo paper...

 

For god sakes can you help me and not cost me 6 more hours plus all the photo paper and instant ink costs...

I finslly got sn error message....

Does not recovnize photo tray in options...5350581...So I look in options and it is set to photo paper???and border on????which are not the settings I chose...

 

Then I saw another post about trying copy...an 8.5x11 page copies and prints fine with an empty photo tray,......

 

DOes that give a clue or is my 1 year and 2 day rather 3 day now printer just be a big paper weight..Copy works, fax works...

program has worked fine until 2 days ago..No changes unless auto update...see other posts..changes everyday printing to photo and paper to bordered...

 

BUT copies perfectly.....

Faxes fine...

 

ALl I print from is my dell desktop inspiron, 3 months old...

Word prints fine for me if I copy everything into it...If it is a win 10 issue hp better get an update because if I have to buy a new printer it will not be hp...

THANKS FOR THE HELP.... HP lost a customer....I cannot waste time on this any more...I wish I could see if they did an update in the last week.....Thanks.....

 

IF copy works then printer should as well..all hardware functioning fine....I almost be there was an auto update that messed with the options and how they were set at the time......
