HP ENVY 7640 does not recognize photo tray in options

So your printer only prints on photo paper and my studid one will not recognize photo tray to print pictures.  So fed up with this printer and is new.  Thanks for all the help HP.

Regarding my issue where it did not recognize the larger tray but printed everything on photo paper....

I tried a copy, it worked....

Then I emailed myself a page and it worked.

I now knew it was software and there had been an update this week...

Yesterday I was on the phone for hours with support and they had me downloading this and downloading that and nothing was working. Finally I was not getting just empty photo tray errors but windows errors and crashes...

I went to control panel/devices and had 7 different sets of the hp software now installed...and they even had wrong pictures with the right numbers...So I deleted the ONE that was in programs.

Then downloaded the software on the site for the printer....

AND

IT ALL WORKS FINE NOW.... I wonder why support did not tell me to uninstall before having me repeatedly download..

So now....

GOt software that works....

Got another printer on the way I DO NOT NEED.

and a HUGE Instant Ink Bill.....

What ever downloaded automatically may have caused a file to corrupt or we have had a couple power outages due to storms...Not making excuses....at 63 I cannot read a full page printed on a 4x6 photo page...So I am good...

I guess support did not look at the title of this forum,,,it fixed my issue but mine was the opposite of the one that started here...I am not going to close it....

And had their support yesterday had me uninstall before first download I would not have had the mess I had.. I assumed the software did an uninstall not just install another printer and some of which did not look at mine..

SO SUPPORT MY ISSUE WAS OPPOSITE OF THIS ONE..IT PRINTED EVERYTHING ON PHOTO PAPER...EXPENSIVE PAPER..PLUS MY INSTANT INK COSTS FOR 54 items and then the time I wasted....

BTW, I've also noticed that after manually going in and resetting everything to recognize the correct paper and tray, I find that using the print function in Googlemaps resets everthing back again, which does not occurr with any othe print funtion. interesting!

Just spent one hour with HP tech. Problem solved by going in "copy, settings, and change to photo tray from there" from the printer screen on the printer, not from the PC.
